Matter a fact is that if you're still at 1.06, get this patch (1.07f) and not the 1.07 one.

This patch requires that Soldier of Fortune be patched up to 1.06, first, which means if you have the Soldier of Fortune Gold edition, this is the only patch you need. If you have the standard Soldier of Fortune, you need the 1.06 Gold patch first and then this one.

If you're still on 1.03, 1.04 or 1.05, get the 1.06 (Gold) Patch first, and then get this one!

Yes, today is the day: Raven officially released the long-awaited 1.07-patch:

The patch removes WON support from the game and exchanges it for GameSpy browser support. (CD keys no longer required to play online) There are also a number of other minor bug fixes included.

Here are some parts of the info-file: This patch adds direct support for GameSpy while removing WON.net support. As of August 2001, WON no longer hosts Soldier of Fortune multiplayer gaming. Various other minor issues were resolved as well. This patch is recommended for all multiplayer players of Soldier of Fortune. All multiplayer competitors must be using the same version to compete. Note that after August 2001, version 1.07 or higher will be required for all Internet play. The patch is not needed for the single player game, but is recommended in case multiplay is accessed in the future. After installation, the patch will require approximately 2MB additional disk space. System Requirements (after installing the patch) • 3-D Hardware Accelerated with full OpenGL support (*) • Pentium® 233 MHz processor (Pentium II recommended) • 64 MB of RAM • U.S. version Microsoft® Windows® 95/98 or NT 4.0-SP5 operating system • 100% Windows 95/98 or NT-SP5-compatible computer system (including compatible 32-bit drivers for CD-ROM, videocard, sound card, and input devices) • 800 MB of uncompressed hard disk space, plus an additional 100 MB for the Windows swap file • Quad-speed CD-ROM drive (600k/sec sustained transfer rate) • DirectX® 7.0 or higher for Windows 95/98 • 100% Windows 95/98/NT-compatible sound card and driver • 100% Windows 95/98/NT-compatible mouse and driver • Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP and IPX) play supported • Internet play requires a 100% Windows 95/98/NT-compatible 28.8 Kbps (or faster) modem with Internet Service Provider (*) A 100% full OpenGL-compliant 3-D video card is required. SOF 1 & 2 are really great GOG !! They must be part of GOG library. SOF 3 payback could be also part of the library but it was not that great.
